BYU-H and PCC Campus Safety and Security

Mission Statement

Security supports Brigham Young University-Hawaii's mission of helping students, faculty, and staff become the learners and leaders envisioned by Prophets by providing a safe and secure environment in a courteous and professional manner. Security is committed to honor the standards of BYU-Hawaii in a fair, ethical, and non-biased manner.

Security will also provide mentoring and practical experience to students so they will be ready to enter the work force and build the kingdom of God.

Emergency Mass Notification System and Emergency Reporting Systems

Brigham Young University Hawai'i Public Safety department offers a mass notification system to students. In the event of an emergency a mass notification will be sent to student emails. We ask students to please make sure the email they have on file is correct. They can check their current email on file by logging into their myBYUH and navigating to the Student Center page. The personal contact information box is located at the bottom of this page. You can edit, update, and previous emails as needed.

Additionally, in the case of an emergency please report it to the Public Safety department by calling 808-675-3911. We also provide an anonymous reporting hotline through the app Rave Guardian. Rave Guardian is available for free download in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. After downloading the app please make sure location and push notification services are turned on. This allows us respond and communicate with you in the event of an emergency. Sign in using your BYUH email and password and make sure to input the correct personal credentials. We also suggest using you BYUH email as your username. After account creation you will be asked to verify your account through your email. You are now set up to be safe! We strongly recommend students to use this app for their own safety.

Owning a Vehicle

Students living on campus may own a vehicle and park it on campus at nighttime. For campus safety we require students to register their vehicle at the Campus Safety and Security office. We are located across from the Social Sciences and Academic Advising buildings. Required documentation is a driver's license, car insurance, car registration, and a safety inspection. All forms of documentation must be current and valid. Registration costs $5 and you will receive a parking sticker to put on your car.
